Integran Technologies' Affiliate Signs Master Marketing Agreement with SAIC

Integran Technologies Inc. (ITI) announced its Pittsburgh, PA-based affiliate, Integran Defense Systems (IDS), a leader in the development of nanostructured products for the aerospace & defense industry using high performance nanocrystalline metals (nanometals), signed a marketing agreement with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to jointly pursue opportunities in aerospace composite coatings, ballistic and armor applications, and structural and thermal management applications for defense-related federal government and commercial markets.

ITI also announced IDS had received an investment from SAIC Venture Capital Corporation, the venture capital investment arm of SAIC. SAIC is the largest employee-owned research and engineering company in the United States, with more than 43,000 employees in over 150 cities worldwide. For the fiscal year ended January 31, 2006, the company reported annual revenues of $7.8 billion.

IDS is the third spin-off from ITI. In 2004 ITI spun-off Morph Technologies (Toronto, ON) and PowerMetal Technologies (Carlsbad, CA) to develop nanostructured products for the automotive and sporting goods industries, respectively. ITI has a long history of aerospace & defense R&D and continues to be involved in numerous defense-related product development programs.

ITI’s nanocobalt technology, an alternative to hard chrome plating, was developed for the Joint Strike Fighter Program with the generous support of the U.S. Department of Defense and Technology Partnerships Canada, an agency of Industry Canada. The nanocobalt technology will soon be deployed in the U.S. and at commercial metal finishing facilities.
